Hinged track stairlift
In some instances, in order for the seat to get low enough for the user to sit on, it is necessary for the track to extend beyond the staircase to the hall floor. If there is a door or passageway at the bottom of the stairs then it is likely that you will need a folding track or hinged rail stairlift. There are some houses that have a doorway close to the bottom of the stairs and the track may intrude across this. In these circumstances a hinged track should be installed, thereby allowing that the track can be folded away from the doorway to give clear access. This therefore means that the bottom section of the rail can be easily folded out of the way when the lift is not being used. This will then allow you to gain access to a door that would otherwise be blocked by a normal rail and also means that there is no tripping hazard if you have an open hallway downstairs
